Celebrating Poetry at Canios

Canios Books in Sag Harbor celebrated its history as a home for poetry
as the store prepared to move this fall from its home on Main Street.

Poets Philip Schulz, Grace Schulman, and Jill Bilosky read their work at a July gathering.

The poets were introduced by Canios' Maryann Calendrille.

Simon van Booy reads Sipsworth

Simon Van Booy reads from Sipsworth.

He was recorded at Canios Books in Sag Harbor.

The novel was published in 2024 by David R Godine.

Van Booy is the author of two novels and two collections of short stories, including The Secret Lives of People in Love and Love Begins in Winter, which won the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. 

He is the editor of three philosophy books and has written for The New York Times, The Guardian, NPR, and the BBC

John Steinbeck Read-In

Today we present a community reading of the work of John Steinbeck.

The Nobel prize winning author spent his last years in Sag Harbor.

The event was presented at Canios Books in Sag Harbor in March of 2024.                     

The readers included John Avlon, Susan Merrell, Alex Rachel, Lori Raimondo, Chelsea Mitchell, Zak Martellucci and Tom Clavin.

Remembering Gaza Again with Poetry

We present poetry, thoughts and prayer inspired by the 2014 Gaza war, a military operation launched by Israel after rocket fire from Gaza struck Israel.   It was recorded in the summer of 2014 as the war continued. The recent repetition of that scenario in 2021 inspired tonight's East End Ink.

He is the retired director of the Quail Hill farm in Amagansett New York.

Moira Linehan's work reflects her roots in Ireland and France.
