Prof. Fred Gardaphe on Italians in the work of John Steinbeck and Pietro di Donato.

We present Queens College professor Fred Gardaphe discussing the depiction of Italians in the work of John Steinbeck and Pietro di Donato.

Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath and di Donato's 

Christ in Concrete were both published in 1939.

 

Professor Gardaphe spoke at Canio's Books, Sag Harbor in September 2022.

Map of Hope and Sorrow

The stories of refugees who fled violence or persecution only to become trapped in the worst refugee camps in Europe.

A discussion with authors Helen Benedict, award-winning British-American professor of journalism at Columbia University, and Syrian writer and refugee, Eyad Awwadawnan

The book presents the stories of five refugees who have endured long and dangerous journeys from the Middle East and Africa to Greece.

The book was published by Footnote Press in October 2022

East Hampton Poets - October 2022

The East Hampton poetry group met to read their work in October at the Town Historical Society's Mulford Farm.

The readers were Carolyn Bistrian, Rosalind Brenner, Dee Slavutin, and Scott Chaskey who read his work and his wife Megan Chaskey's work.
